Health Indicator Report of New HIV/AIDS Diagnoses

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks the body's immune system. If HIV is not treated, it can lead to AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). Currently, there is no effective cure. However, with proper medical care HIV can be controlled. People with HIV who get effective HIV treatment can live long, healthy lives and protect their partners.
In 2021, more newly diagnosed HIV/AIDS cases were prevalent among non-Hispanic Blacks and Hispanics, with a greater number of cases among Hispanic males and non-Hispanic Black females.

Notes

Data for White, Black, and Asian/PI do not include Hispanics. Hispanic ethnicity includes persons of any race. "Other Race" includes American Indian/Native Alaskan and other races not mentioned, all not Hispanic. **Number is too small to report; statistically unstable.
