Health Indicator Report of HIV Transmission Rate

Most people who get HIV get it through anal or vaginal sex, or sharing needles, syringes, or other drug injection equipment. However, there are tools to help prevent HIV transmission.[https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/basics/transmission.html ^1^]

Data from 2020 should be interpreted with caution due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on access to HIV testing, care-related services, and changes in testing modality (e.g., self-testing).   ** Separate data not available for Asians. Data for White and Black do not include Hispanics. Hispanic ethnicity includes persons of any race. eHARS data as of 12/31/21.
