Health Indicator Report of Deaths among Children 5-14 Years Old

The deaths of children present a public health concern and an opportunity for prevention. Injury is one of the leading causes of death for children of all ages. These deaths are, for the most part, preventable.

Notes

Numerator: Cause-specific deaths among persons aged 5-14 years. Denominator: Total number of deaths among persons aged 5-14 years. Note that this table/graph shows percentages, not rates. Unintentional injuries are commonly referred to as "accidents." All other causes had fewer than 10 deaths in 2020.
