Health Indicator Report of Syphilis Incidence - Primary and Secondary

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that can have very serious complications when left untreated, but it is simple to cure with the right treatment.

Notes

This is Healthy New Jersey 2020 (HNJ2020) objective STD-4. Data for White, Black, and Asian do not include Hispanics. Hispanic ethnicity includes persons of any race.

Healthy People Objective: Reduce sustained domestic transmission of primary and secondary syphilis

U.S. Target: 6.7 new cases per 100,000 male population and 1.3 new cases per 100,000 female population
State Target: 2.5 new cases per 100,000 population (male and female combined)
