Numerator:Estimated number of persons in each racial/ethnic group
Denominator:Estimated number of persons in the population

How Are We Doing?

Between 2010 and 2022, the estimated number of New Jersey residents increased in each of the following groups: *Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander: 40% increase from approximately 2,500 to 3,500 residents *Two or More Races: 34% increase from 115,000 to 155,000 *Asian: 30% increase from 737,000 to 957,000 *Hispanic: 30% increase from 1.5 million to 2.0 million *Black: 6% increase from 1.1 million to 1.2 million In the same time period, the number of White New Jersey residents decreased 6 percent from 5.2 million to 4.9 million.

Compared to the US as a whole, the population of New Jersey is more racially and ethnically diverse.
