The deaths of children present a public health concern and an opportunity for prevention. Injury is one of the leading causes of death for children of all ages. These deaths are, for the most part, preventable.

Data for White, Black, and Asian do not include Hispanics. Hispanic ethnicity includes persons of any race. ** Number of deaths is too small to calculate a reliable rate. Numerator: Total number of race/ethnicity-specific deaths among persons aged 5-14 years. Denominator: Number of race/ethnicity-specific persons aged 5-14 years in the population.Data Sources
